This project was a study in working in with a stock standard government house in Canberra and seeing what could be done, with minimal budget. More with less. Making best use of space available. Making it feel elegant and generous. Working spaces extremely hard to ensure this family home serves with elegance. The project recycled a significant amount of building materials to attempt to be as sensitive as possible with its use of resources.

By Piece took our 60's era ex-govie and turned it into a light and spacious 4 bedroomn home, with rumpus and office. The staging of the build allowed us to live on premises whilst the extensive alterations were undertaken.

Wright House is a study in designing on a tight urban block while maximising plot ratio, connection to landscape, spatial volume, colour, and character, creating a comfortable, playful, and energy-efficient family home. The design brings textured, robust materiality to the forefront, responding to its location within a very new and relatively soulless development. The floor plan wraps around a lush green courtyard, with the house fully opening onto this space from all sides. This allows natural cross ventilation and frames every view within the home toward the courtyard, anchoring the interior to a vibrant green landscape. The result is a home that is private, spatially engaging, and visually striking—offering its inhabitants a rich interplay of colour, texture, and light.
